Evangelical Christians are all white Americans from the South.
Well that is three myths in one, I guess. First things first, not all evangelicals are white. Most predominately black denominations are considered evangelical in one form or another. They may differ from white churches on some political issues, but theologically they are very similar. There is also a growth of evangelical Hispanics in America.
Not only are there black denominations that are evangelical, even the denominations that are predominately white have many minority members and leaders. Many predominately white suburban churches sponsor or work with predominately black churches in the urban areas and/or predominately Hispanic churches to reach people in those areas. Not to mention churches that may or may not be non-denominational that have a wide mixture of people in their congregations. So not all evangelicals are white.
Also, not all evangelicals are American. There are numerous evangelical churches through out the world. The largest church (membership wise) in the world is in South Korea. Many African and Asian nations have strong evangelical churches, as well as Australia. Evangelical churches are present in Europe and South America, though to a smaller extent. The growth of evangelical Christian churches is so great that many Asia, Africa and Australia are sending our their own internationally missionaries, some even to America.
And finally, obviously all evangelicals are not from the South, if they are all around the world. The largest evangelical denomination Southern Baptist have churches in every state. Most other evangelical churches have similar presence across the nation.

This one is an understandable myth, since southerners are wildly overrepresented in evangelical and born again media.
