No relationship, no problem

Josh, at the Conjecturer, does a very detailed take down of Andrew Sullivan's take down of President Bush for having the audacity to talk about having a "relationship with the Lord."

Sullivan, a self-professed "faithful" Catholic, apparently thinks it is an odd thing for a Christian to claim to have a that relationship.

My question is, who is Bush, as a Christian supposed to have a relationship with? (Just for fun, do a search and see how often Bill Clinton made theological references compared to Bush. You will be surprised by how has made more. You probably won't be surprised that Clinton's went up dramatically during election years.)

When you elect a Christian candidate, you get a Christian President. Why is that surprising?
