Random Observation #1

There is one thing that unites everyone. One thing that can bring people of all religious and ethnic groups together. One thing that will attract people from all demographic groups. Asian food.

Scoff if you like, but try this little test. Go to the nearest Chinese or Japanese resturant during a busy time and observe who all is eating there. If you live in an area that features a diverse group of people, you will most likely find someone from each demographic enjoying some fried rice or egg drop soup.

Some srong anecdotal evidence comes from a student at the university I work at. His family is originally Chinese, but they all fled after the Communist takeover. So what do they do? They move to Brazil and open a successful Asian resturant. South Americans have to have their teriyaki chicken, too.

Even stranger still he winds up at a university in the upstate of South Carolina, but that's another story.
